Wait a second

How come there's no contraction for "am not"?

is + not = isn't

are + not = aren't

am + not = am not

I amn't going to stand for this.

So here's one I heard yesterday from the mouth of Mr. Obama's Deputy Press Sec'y: "They oughtn't be surprised.". Use that three times today so it becomes part of your vocab.

  8. I heard a girl say that we "ought be better people." I thought to myself that the first step was to use "to" in that sentence.
