Moles

From The Nice and the Good, by Iris Murdoch:

"A velvety brown mole on one cheek gave him a curious air of prettiness."

Really! Does the outside of my left knee have a curious air of prettiness as well, Iris?

Hrmmmmm....I'd say it gives you more of something along the lines of a peculiar hint of beauty, but you know - whatever.

I've always been attracted to your knees.

Really doesn't have anything to do with having a mole on your face (gross), but I am overhearing a conversation between two ladies at my office, one from Nampa and one from New Hampshire, both of whom mysteriously grew up in "Irish households." Neither actually grew up in Ireland, nor did either of their parents. My theory is that claiming Irish roots is simply an excuse for bad manners. Irish people apparently fight a lot, so in order to live up to the reputation you make for yourself by claiming a Nampa Irish household, you have to make up stories about how you fight all the time and are a huge jerk. The lady from New Hampshire went to Catholic School and lived significantly closer to Ireland then Nampa, so she might be a little more likely to be influenced in ways other than an unwillingness to correct personality flaws...

Look at Cindy Crawford and Marilyn Monroe. Moles are definately cool. Here is a story, I have a mole on my cheek (it is flesh colored so it isn't as noticeable) but one day Will noticed it and say, "Scary mole!!" Ehanks Will, Thanks!!
